Zlatan Ibrahimovic lovade att ta “det okända landslaget” till VM för personer med lindrigt förståndshandikapp. Superstjärnan frågade vad som fattades…
If you remember this story from May, Zlatan heard about the plight of Sweden’s “Unknown National Team” in trying to raise enough money to pay for their accommodations at this year’s INAS World Cup in Brazil. The team got some signed shirts from Z’s NT teammates but the captain himself went one step beyond.
As assistant coach Stefan Jonsson told Hela Hälsinland, the Swedish Disability Federation had given the team $30,000 but they still needed $60,000. He approached Zlatan during one of the men’s national team training sessions in Stockholm in May and asked if he would donate a signed shirt for their auction that they were planning to hold to raise enough money to cover the rest of the costs. Zlatan, in true Z fashion, said, “What the hell are you going to do with a shirt? How much is it going to cost to go?” Jonsson told him the amount - which was close to $51,000. Z then asked for the account info and donated the amount they needed. When Helena had found out about Z’s gesture, Jonsson said that she “was sincerely touched and cried” upon hearing the news.
“Zlatan is really the opposite of what people think he is – a warm and kind person,” Jonsson added.
Jonsson hopes that Z will continue to serve as the team’s ambassador in the future.
